Yes! I did it...

I signed up as a volunteer months ago. Little did I know that I needed to fast too. haha! It made me worried and I even thought of pulling out, worrying that gastric will come. But at the back of my mind I knew there was no turning back cos it's all about being responsible. So the solution was I called Jer 33:3. I even asked my cell group to call the same number. It's really a miracle. Both Danny and I who had the same worries, never felt very hungry throughout the 30 hours and no gastric at all. Just a bit tired and sleepy. Amazing. It's really God's strength upon our lives. Thanks to everyone who prayed for us.

So what's this all about? So many people asked. So here are some FAQs I got from World Vision website:

The 30-Hour Famine is a global movement against hunger and poverty. It is an experiential, life-changing camp aimed at spreading awareness about global poverty, and raising funds to improve the lives of needy children and communities.

At 30-Hour Famine, Campers fast for 30 hours in solidarity with millions who go hungry because of war, disasters and poverty. During the camp, they gain insight to pressing global issues via talks, simulation games, and group activities. Best of all, they know their hunger is bringing hope
to children and communities because they raise/contribute funds for them prior to the camp.

In short, raising fund for poor children. I think this event managed to raise 1.2million.

Anyway, don't think that this is a boring camp. Nope! Absolutely not. The committees put up a pretty full schedule for us, which distracted us from thinking about hunger. haha! There were activities, games, performances, concerts by Fish Leong, Nicholas Teo, Daniel Lee, etc. It was so fun. I made many new friends. Because someone swapped group with me, I led group 1 and we sat right in front. Good view of people on stage.

We started fasting from Sat 12pm till Sun 6pm. At 5 plus, we weren't craving for food but the countdown hyped it up big time. At 6pm, we went crazy. I was so excited. The joy was indescribable. I couldn't be
lieve we fasted 30 hours. A very good experience - going for camps, sleeping in between the Stadium Putra seats, no bathing, no eating...

When Beautiful Gate and Shuangfu
performed, I was really touched. Tears just rolled down. even though they are handicapped, the joy on their faces... wow! the expression.
This event made me recall the fun time I had when I was in KGV, particularly the Sin Chew student reporter activities. I was a 'banana' at that time - attending Chinese Language Society activities with my ex-schoolmates - Shiau Ling, Vinny, Sook Shi, Looi Ting Wee, Thomas, Ah Chow & Stap.

And my face appeared in the New Straits Times dated 16th Sept 07 and 17th Sept 07. One more thing even more interesting, I went to www.google.com.my and search for hazel gan and you know what the 1st result is me. Me!! Me!!
