How Did We Get Here?
This is something that we're not encouraged to do and something we hardly have the chance to church hopping: we're still in the midst of finding the right church. Initially, we wanted to attend ICA but due to distance, we planned to find somewhere nearer and this week, we attended Calvary. They meet every Sun at Novotel Citygate ballroom. It's all together a very different style from the Vine. The service we attended was less than a hundred. More Asians. There's no live band. I can see that they're really using whatever resources that's available. Very down-to-earth, very approachable.
Today there's no sermon but a guy from Tanzania, Africa shared a wonderful testimony. It's just too hard for me to re-tell the testimony. Just summary, he doesn't know when exactly he was born as his family were staying in the forest. Non-educated. No clothes to wear. No food to eat. He said he was naked till 20 yrs old. With God's hands, he was the 1st in the family to be given education. After completion of primary school, he went to the city with lice in his hair and rags for clothes to ask his uncle for help. His uncle supported him. To cut a long story short, later he was sponsored to US for 4 mths course and later HK Uni sponsored him to complete do a 4yrs PHD. He came to HKG in 2005. He was supposed to complete his studies in 2009 but he broke the record of HKU and completed his PHD in just 2 years. Because of some financial problems, he only take a meal a day for the last 2 years. He just revealed this today. I felt so blessed listening to this whole testimony. A true man of God. Of course, he went through a lot of obstacles and God really saw him through.
This testimony really encourages me as we're just starting a new journey in life. Yeah, it's a new life, new adventure. It's our desire and it seems fun. The grass is always greener on the other side. But I knew from the beginning it's not going to be easy. This is our choice and we're going to trust the Lord that He's going to see us through. Sometimes, we still wonder, how on earth did we get here man? This is crazy! Yeah, it's God. Without Him, this seems impossible.
The toughest thing to me is... friends. I have so many friends back home. Moreover, have just built a strong bond among a few friends. And every Wed so many people will come to our house :( Friends to me are really important. And now... I have to start all over again here. I need the support. So we know that our main thing now is to find a church and definitely attend a cell group. Just attending church is not enough, to have a support group is essential. So thanks bro for the great testimony.
After church, we went for lunch at Food Republic. It's in the Citygate Outlet which is connected to Novotel. Managed to find some reasonably nice food. Paul so happy cos he got his Indian food. haha! The omelette oyster not bad also. The teochew dishes looked yummy and a bit too salty la.
