Fantastic Trip!

Back from Hongkong. So fast... Paul and I have been talking about this trip since last year. We got our tickets in at the MAS Travel Fair early this year. We're still more keen in taking MAS than Air Asia though the price is much higher. hehe!

The weather was hot and humid. But we really thank God for that (after much prayer). We'd rather it's hot than wet. Paul's cousin told us that it has been raining for a mth before we came. The day before we left, the cloudy weather started again.

Thank God Paul has a cousin over in HK. So we stayed in his place at Macdonnell Road, Midlevels. It's at HK Island. So convenient. We were impressed with the public transport, facilities and the people. There were no problems at all with the public transport. The people were so nice and professional, from the security guards, the fella who press the lift for you, sales girls etc. They're so super polite, helpful and friendly. We just felt weird how come so many people told us Hongkies are terrible. Maybe those in the back lanes and across at Kowloon side. They're more impatient and unfriendly.

On Sunday, we met up with a friend's friend, Karen (I guess she's our friend now). She brought us to an International church in North Point. We had a great time. Though we met for the first time, but she was just so nice. During the service, they have a guest band from Australia and a guest speaker from India so we didn't get to hear the message from a local. Aiks!

Food... We courageously went into local food shops. It's just not easy. Paul doesn't know Cantonese, so most of the time I will do the talking. But the problem is local kopitiams don't have English words and they don't wait. You have to order before you get scolding. The shops are small and you need to share the table. So through my TVB movies experiences *grin*, I just tembak la. We managed to try the wantan mee (the wantan was superb), beef noodle (yummy), dimsum (super delicious), roast goose, suckling pig, porridge, yau char kwai, cheong fan, tong sui and beef fried kuetiau. Food was kinda pricy but because we searched for the local ones, it was not that bad.

I really enjoyed myself this time (2nd time). I think because we were on our own this time and we just explored when and where we wished - no tour guides, no waitin for aunties or ah peks. I still remember Paul didn't like to go HK last time, but now we have fallen in love with it. Haha! They are so high-tech, fast-paced and HK is so beautiful. Though it's all buildings but wow! amazing. We enjoyed the Symphony of Lights and Aqua Fantasia. The view of HK from the Peak was amazing.

On Sunday night, during the England match, Paul's cousin brought us to Lan Kwai Fong (the Bangsar of KL) to watch the match. It was fun. I enjoyed myself and was surprised to see the atmosphere pretty different. The people were more 'educated', not many smokers and so friendly. I am not a football fan but it was great being together with all the England fans and cheering together. haha! if only stupid England scored more than 1 goal. blek...

The most enjoyable thing was Disneyland. I think because we didn't expect a lot so we truly enjoyed ourselves. So many people told us before this - lousy, dirty, the people are terrible, etc but no - we didn't experience such things. The place was clean and people were quite alright. But it's small la. Tiny compared to Disney World, Paul said. If you've never been to any Disneyland, HK Disneyland is worth the experience. I think it was not school holidays when we went. Quite big crowd towards lunch time but queuing for the rides was not too bad. For a moment, even the adults became 'children'. So cute ar! So cute ar! We really enjoyed all the musical performances, the Adventures of Pooh and the Disney PhilharMagic (3D show). There was one part during the show, i cried. haha! I was so touched and feeling so blessed to see all these.

Shopping! Of course, we shopped like crazy. It's the HK Shopping Festival. The day we arrived was the 1st day of the Festival. Cheap... cheap... cheap! The branded stuff was so cheap. HK sales is 'truly' sales. We walked so much everyday. So many things to see.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip. We hope to be back again. keke! This time didn't take many pics as we didn't want to act so 'touristy'.

However, during one of the nights, a sad incident happened. I heard a loud noise, PLAT! I didn't bother to see what was that cos the 2 fellas (Paul and Leo) were happily watching football, as if nothing happened - so I went to sleep. The next morning, Paul told me someone committed suicide from the 34th floor and drop right in front of the entrance. Thank God I didn't become a busybody or else I might have seen the organs and brains. Ugh!

Other than this sad incident, it was a great trip.
