What a trip!

Yesterday morning as we were in the kitchen, Paul suddenly said, “Let’s go to Genting. The haze is very bad.” He was worried about my health as I have a history of lung problem. The haze really is terrible today. No escape. There’s a layer of haze even in de office. I called to book a room in First World. Only Deluxe rooms left? On a weekday? Szet Winne told me many people had the same thinking as us.
Paul asked me to leave work at 4pm. How ler? Had to ask Emilia 1st. Kinda paiseh to ask… but I knew I couldn’t lie so I told her the truth. Thank God, she allowed me to leave early. I went to work full speed. Due to the heavy load, I only managed to cabut about 4.25pm. Quickly rushed home, grabbed our bags and off we went. Huzzah!
Was so excited. We reached there in less than an hour. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh… sunlight, blue sky and fresh air!!!!!!!!!!!
Now here’s the crazy part. I smsed Joanne and told her we were in Genting. Her reply: “We’re also going to Genting later.” “We” meant her, Kin Sang, Janice, Lavinia and Esther. Coincidence or what?! They planned to go for a drink only, not staying as they had to work the next day. This added to my excitement (though I was a little disappointed they didn’t ask me to go in the 1st place). Lousy flers ; p
Paul and I went jalan-jalan right after bath. It was already 7.30pm. I was very impressed with the change in First World. The last time I went was 2 yrs ago – pretty OK, then. But now, it’s happening! Like a downtown shopping mall. Waited for Szet Winne so we could go for dinner together.
Then another weird thing happened …as we were with Szet Winne, Yi Khai, Steven Leong and another guy came too. Soon, the other jokers joined us. We had drinks in Starbucks – 11 of us. It was great. Like mini gathering. The best part was it wasn’t planned. We hung out and had lotsa fun. At 12am, we even called Szet Anne to wish her Happy Birthday and sang her a song (through the phone in Starbucks).
Unfortunately, after drinking my favourite hot chocolate, my voice turned hoarse. Argh! We left Starbucks about 1am. Only Joanne & gang, Paul and me left. We went out to enjoy the cool air. YUK! Not so fresh as it was a mixture of haze and mist. It followed us up. It smelled weird and the mist was very thick. After our 2nd round of food, at about 3am, they finally left and we went back for some beauty sleep.
You’d think that would be the end of everything, but no. At 7.30am, Joanne called, “We’re still in Genting” Haha! The haze+mist was so bad they couldn’t see the road, so they stayed overnight. In Kin Sang’s CAR! All of them took Emergency Leave. They looked so tired when they trooped into our room to freshen up. We had breakfast and chatted all the way till 11 plus, waiting for the sky to clear.
Eventually, at about 12 pm, we finally drove back down. When we arrived in KL, thank God – we could actually see KL. What a trip!
